So, I have been abusing the bittorrent gods lately and downloading everything that seems remotely interesting.
A quick rundown for ya
Neverwinter Nights: Sucks ass
Band of Brothers: Really, really, really sweet
Full versions of every popcap game: Fuckin sweet as hell
Combat Missions Africa Corps: I'm not sure if I like this one yet....
Anyway, on to the real point of this.... Rise of Nations.
So the last RTS I played, and enjoyed was Warcraft II, but what the fuck it's free right! The install didn't even require me to burn a CD. I'd be stupid not to. I'm sure that's what a lot of kids say the first time a dealer gives them a free bag of heroin.....
So, Rise of Nations (for those of you who don't know) is a RTS game much like Civ III. Almost all of the basic Civ stuff is there, but now it is in real time. So, playing Rise of Nations is like SHOOTING FUCKING SPEED INTO YOUR EYES AND PLAYING CIV III. Imagine trying to play a game of Civ, but you can't stop to think. It's just go go go.... It drives me nuts and it's why I hate playing RTS games. But I can't stop playing Rise of Nations....damn it! It’s like heroin
How the game works, you start on a strategic map (wow it's sane...) Pick what country you want to attack and that dumps you into the RTS mode. However, you have several armies on the board, but you can only do one attack per turn....doesn't make a whole lot of sense...anyway
The RTS mode, dropped on a small map, with an army, a capital and some workers. Then you must BUILD! BUILD!! BUILD!!! fast, fast, fast!!! Raise the army and send it to the capital... all in regular RTS fashion... except that you need to research things... kinda of annoying, but whatever....
The insane speed of the damn game drives me crazy, but not as crazy as when my giant army sits around while the enemy attacks my city. Yup they just sit there and watch it happen...isn't that great? Perhaps I didn't research not being gay....
Just play Civ II people...
